The national attention to the water crisis of Jackson has receded as water pressure was restored and federal, state, and local resources were brought to bear. Local, state, and national church groups and other non-profits were mobilized for immediate response. However, the needs for a long term response and solution has not ended. Water distribution efforts continue as many people all over the city have lingering doubts about the situation.

Fondren Presbyterian has participated in water distribution by sharing water through our Meals on Wheels deliveries, contributing water to New Horizon Church—which has established an extensive water distribution effort—and working through the Presbytery of Mississippi. In addition, individuals have made their own contributions to the crisis.

But as a community expressing our faith in God through Christ, we also need to pray for leaders and people of Jackson and the State of Mississippi. The Session (governing council) of Fondren Presbyterian adopted a Statement that does exactly that. READ THE STATEMENT

We are asking other faith communities, clergy and leaders as well as boards and councils, to adopt this or their own statement. If you have questions about this, please contact me by completing the form below.
