“Creating a Space for Grace”
with Dr. M. Catherine Cook
July 31 and August 1, 2016
What exactly is gracious living? Grace is a familiar word, but what does it look like in a person? In a community of faith? In a family? How do we create space for the grace God offers?
At this year's FBI we will look at how things we already know, or have, or can easily do for ourselves and one another, can make room to see the grace of God more fully in all these places. Seeing God's grace appropriated in our lives is one definition of spiritual formation. Seeing God's grace flow out of our lives and churches is one way of thinking about mission. Come and see and hear and share together as we create a space for grace!
This year's FBI will follow a new schedule. Dr. Cook will present the following four sessions:
Session 1: Sunday, July 31 at 9:30 am Sunday School hour. A light breakfast will be served.
Session 2: Sunday, July 31 at 11:00 am Worship service.
Session 3: Sunday, July 31 at 6:00 pm starting with a fried chicken potluck supper followed by our lesson. Please plan to bring a side dish or desert to share.
Session 4: Monday, August 1 at 12:00 pm with a brown bag lunch.
Please plan to attend all of the sessions to get the most out of the series, or choose the sessions that best fit your schedule.
To get ready: Think of something that has helped grow your relationship with God – a book, a CD, or a practice you could describe briefly on a sheet of paper. Please label the book(s) and CD(s) and sign your page(s) so that people who see them can ask if they have questions. A table will be provided for sharing in this informal way.
Hope to see you there!
